Lillian Akampurira Aujo, a Ugandan writer and poet, will be the chief guest at the Thanksgiving Evening to celebrate ten years of the Babishai Niwe (BN) Poetry Award.
The winner of the inaugural Beverly Nambozo (BN – later renamed Babishai Niwe) Poetry Prize in 2009 attended the 2015 Writivism mentoring. Aujo was mentored by Zimbabwean writer, Barbara Mhangami and her story from the mentorship, “The Kind of Water I Like” was published by Sooo Many Stories. It was also included in our second digital mini anthology, Your Heart Will Skip A Beat and other stories, available for free download online via Bahati Books.
In 2017, Aujo came back to Writivism as a mentor on the #Writivismat5 project that resulted in the Odokonyero anthology. She mentored Tricia Twasiima. Aujo is also the winner of the inaugural Jalada Prize for Literature.
The BN thanksgiving Celebration will take place at the Femrite offices on Kira Road, on Monday 25 March, 2019, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm and it is open and free to all.
